Ballarat’s – The Great Outdoor and 4X4 Expo

As we walked through the Gates of The Great Outdoor and 4X4 Expo in Ballarat early on its opening morning, we looked around and saw that only moments after it’s official opening time, people were already beginning to stream in.

Ballarat’s “The Great Outdoor and 4X4 Expo” has been running now in Ballarat for the last five to six years and every year it keeps getting better with more and more exhibitors on site.

This year the weather is perfect for it, With warm temperatures for Friday and Saturday before a cool change hits on Sunday.

The Great Outdoor and 4×4 Expo has a huge range of exhibitors, from Caravans, 4WD, Fishing, Electrics bikes, Fire pits, Lawnmowers, Generators, Tires, Solar Panels, the list goes on. Which is why it holds such a wide appeal from young families, retirees, to people looking for their next way to explore the Great Outdoors.

2nd March 2018 11 am – 5 pm

3rd March 2018 10 am – 5 pm

4th March 2018 10 am – 4 pm

Admission Costs

Adults $15

Concessions $12 (Concessions accepted are Seniors card, Pension Card, Veterans, and Companion card)

Children under 16 – Free

Car Parking

There is free parking at the venue, however, expect the Car park to fill up quickly on Saturday afternoon with the AFL game playing next door at Mars Stadium. Western Bulldogs vs Hawthorn.

Payment methods

Make sure you bring a little cash, whilst you can now pay with EFTPOS to enter and some stalls will have portable Eftpos machines, I found when walking around many of the food stalls were still cash only. Otherwise, you will need to leave and head across the road to the BP for the ATM to get some cash-out.

There are some great Food trucks, Coffee, Souvlakis, Potato twists, Dim Sims, and Burgers. Most of them required cash so make sure you bring some spare change.

As you walk around their are quite a few fire pits, and other stands cooking up meat, so if you enjoy meat the smell makes you hungry.

The Charcoal Pit – Souvlaki Bar

The Charcoal Pit sells Chicken, Lamb or mixed souvlaki, and a variety of Soft drinks or Water.

Apart from wandering through and looking at the Caravans a favourite in our house.

There is also a Jumping Pillow that the children will love to have a play on. It wasn’t open yet on the Friday morning when I walked past, so I am not sure what price it will be.

There was a stall with free Gold mining which I am sure will be a huge hit with the kids.
