The Lakeview hotel situated on the glorious Lake Wendouree in Ballarat is a great casual family-friendly restaurant in Ballarat. A great place to sit an relax after you finish your 6km walk around the Lake.
We love heading there for breakfast as they make great fresh orange juice. The oranges are kept in the fridge so the juice comes out nice and cold.
The Lakeview hotel is very family friendly with a good variety of food on the children’s menu and have complimentary colouring in, which we have found a rare commodity in a lot of restaurants nowadays. Most places you have to buy an overpriced colouring-in pack that they finish before the meal comes out. The pictures are a great variety from superheroes, Disney characters, animals on plain white paper.
The wait staff are friendly and come round quickly after you arrive to make sure you order you can order your drinks even if you are still waiting on others in your party.
It nice to sit and eat your breakfast or lunch watching everyone as the walk Lake Wendouree. Or to reward yourself after a nice walk with a nice cold drink.

Buffet breakfast at the Wildlife park Hamilton Island
Now there are plenty of places to grab breakfast on the Island, from Cafes and bakeries downtown, to grabbing your own from the local grocery store, the Island has three places that you can enjoy buffet breakfast from Sails at the main resort, to the hotels breakfast but if you want to really enjoy a buffet breakfast on Hamilton Island I suggest the breakfast at the wildlife park.
Now the buffet itself does not have as much selection as Sails, however the pancakes and eggs made to order certainly make up for it.
Each day a chef is their to make your eggs however you like them and unlike other restaurants where you stand their waiting for ages whilst they make your order, you tell the chef your order and your table number and she brings it to you. They arrived beautifully presented.
You sit their overlooking cuddly koalas, and for not much more you can also pay for entry into the wildlife park.
Our children loved the hot pancakes, and the fact their was a huge selection of topping choices from Chocolate, caramel, strawberry, maple syrup, lemon and sugar
