Explore Australia 2014

Explore Australia 2014

I am always hesitant when I head into an expo in its first year. You never quite know what you are going to get, whether they will have stands full of products, great deals. Or empty stands and the normal products you see at every other show.
You can try and look at the exhibitor listing and that can give you a bit of an idea, but often it’s a case of heading out and seeing for yourself.

Today we decided to head into the Explore Australia Expo. On paper it looked great it’s event partners read like a who’s who list of 4×4 world. And thankfully it lived up to it’s great website.

We headed in early to the home of master chef, the 4×4 outdoor show and fishing, boating expo and the Melbourne show. It seemed that there were plenty of other people with the same idea.

The parking over at Flemington racecourse was great and easy and at $15 reasonable for an expo in the city. It was a quick wander in to the entry point.

It was spread over about half of the showgrounds with a great selection of fishing products in the main pavilion.

As we wandered through I noticed a crowd ahead, my interest peaked we headed over to see a man scuba diving in a tank. (Advertising a course for your scuba diving license) Our children were very impressed.
As we headed out of the main pavilion we headed over to meet our friends at the pie in the sky.

There was a huge selection of food vans, plenty of clean bathrooms, and a selection of rides for the children. I liked the fact the rides were advertised at $5 instead of the usual ticket system which always ends up with spare tickets left over.

There were 2 other pavilions full of great stands. The Touring & Offroad Pavilion – Exhibition Pavilion (1), and the Adventure Hall – Expo Hall (3)

The touring pavilion had a great list of stalls, from ARB, opposite lock to TJM.
They were well spread out and easy to manoeuvre around.
We will definetly be back next year.
